Our mission is to build trust and confidence between the police and the community they serve through accountability, transparency and training
The UK policing model relies on public consent and trust. This trust is not only based on how officers tackle crime and maintain order, but also how the public perceive they are being treated by the police.
The Devon & Cornwall Community Scrutiny Panel (DCCS Panel) is a real opportunity to address the issues impacting police trust within our local community. It is not an anti-police forum, but rather a safe space for members of the public from Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to make positive and necessary contributions in ensuring police powers are used in a fair and responsible way.
Our Role
Increase awareness of police procedures, lawfulness, public rights and the complaints system.
Increase accessibility to officers’ body-worn video footage, police power scrutiny and complaint helplines.
Publicising outcomes to the public, sharing scrutiny results, investigations and improving D&C Police transparency.
